At 06:30 on 28 May, Kim Ahlum will kayak 40 miles from New Orleans to Grande Isle, LA, to raise funds for Autism awareness and her son, Taylor, who has Down syndrome and is diagnosed with Autism.

“My son, Taylor, has Down syndrome and was recently diagnosed with Autism.  I watch him in awe and amazement as he negotiates every obstacle placed before him,” said Kim. “I marvel at his endless determination and unbridled happiness. I’ve decided to try and make a difference for Taylor and others just like him.  Considering I’ve never kayaked before this event, it is a challenge indeed but nothing like the challenges my son faces on a daily basis. As a single mom, it is the least I can do for him. My hope is to raise money and awareness to help children like Taylor receive the care and support they need to thrive and enjoy life to the fullest.”
